SFF authors is a project I started in summer 2025. I had read scifi books by a few Irish authors and was struggling to find info on them. When I did remember a name, I could lookup that author, but discovering new authors in that genre, from Ireland, was challenging. Searching for "Irish scifi authors" or "Irish fantasy authors" yielded mostly short lists or articles namechecking Bram Stoker, C.S. Lewis, and other already well-known authors. There was no single resource that showcased all the amazing talent that this island has given the world, so I decided to create this website to bring together all the information I could find.
The information within is painstakingly sourced from web searches, wikipedia, interviews, top ten lists, book award nominations, publishing house catalogs, and more. While I've tried to be as comprehensive as possible, there may be gaps or inaccuracies. If you notice anything, please let me know!
It is a work in progress, and I hope to add more authors and books over time. If you have any suggestions or would like to contribute, please get in touch.
I am Irish, I love SFF, and I know lots of Irish SF and Fantasy authors, and I was frustrated that discovery of them was difficult. The segment was is underrepresented online. Wikipedia lists exist, but they are sparse, and mostly mention famous dead writers like Bram Stoker or C S Lewis. I have just about enough free time to pull this together for published Irish SFF authors. If I expanded it to international authors, or unpublished, or any genre of fiction, it would be an impossible task.

My name is Rory O'Kelly. I'm a writer (though not yet published) and a software developer (creator of Poe Writer and some other things) with a passion for speculative fiction, fantasy and scifi.
