Damien Kelly
Damien Kelly is a lecturer and author from the wilds of Donegal, in the northwest of Ireland, where he lives with his wife and children. Its stony myths inform the darkness in his stories. In addition to horror he writes fantasy and, occasionally, science fiction, but always with that cold bite from the winds that touch the Wild Atlantic Way.
His short fiction has appeared in publications from The British Fantasy Society, Flame Tree Press, Sci-Fi Ireland, Lethe Press, Jurassic London and Pelgrane Press, among them the Flame Tree anthologies Witchcraft: Short Stories and Folklore: Horror Short Stories. His story 'The Whipping Boy', first published in Stone Skin Press's The New Gothic, lends its name to The Whipping Boy and Other Stories, a collection he gives free to newsletter subscribers, and his story 'Bandersnatch' can be read on his website.

Doors Into the Dark: A Day of Weird Fiction
A day-long celebration of science fiction, speculative fiction, myth, fantasy and weird writing, hosted by the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's, 10am to 8pm. Talks, panels and readings on uncanny futures, folk horror and ghost stories, game narratives, YA and urban fantasy, and publishing weird fiction, plus a workshop on preparing for publication, a screening panel at the Queen's Film Theatre, and an evening showcase of new fiction. Attendance is free, but registration is essential. The Weird Weekend continues on Sunday with the Doors into the Dark book stall, in partnership with No Alibis Bookstore.
