Kristina Dowling was born in Sweden in 1983 and has lived in Ireland 20 years.

She has been writing all her life, everything from short stories and fairy tales to newspaper articles.

Her first novel was published in Sweden as Eira Martell - Flickan av mörkret, and in English markets as Girl of Darkness. It is the first of a YA urban fantasy series, with two more to follow in 2027 and 2028. A bestseller in Sweden, the series was nominated for Book Debut of the Year 2023, was a finalist in the Storytel Awards in 2023 and 2025, and won Fantasy Series of the Year 2025.

Kristina works at Avolon, an aircraft leasing firm. When she is not writing she likes spending time with family and friends, hiking, horse-riding, reading, listening to music, swimming, cycling, exploring derelict houses and eating chocolate.
