Rosa Mulholland, Lady Gilbert (1841 - 21 April 1921) was an Irish novelist, poet, playwright, short-story writer and children's writer, born in Belfast and later associated with Irish Catholic and family-oriented publishing.
Her supernatural fiction generally works through domestic environments - houses, families, servants, marriage, inheritance, Catholic belief and social reputation - and its hauntings are tied to guilt, hidden histories, unresolved injustice, suppressed memory and disrupted family relationships. The Haunted Organist of Hurly Burly remains her best known ghost story.
She is important as part of the body of Victorian Irish women's supernatural fiction that circulated through magazines and religious or family-oriented publishing networks.
